Keratin – A protein that is found in the upper layer of skin, hair, and nails. It creates the structure of hair

Hair Follicle – A sac from which a hair grows and into which the sebaceous (oil) glands open. (can be referred to the root of hair)

Collagen – A long-chain amino acid that is the most abundant protein in the body and is found exclusively in animal tissue. It helps improve the health of hair and skin.

Sebum – Oil that the skin secretes. These are the natural oils that the hair produces. It help moisturize the hair and protect its barriers.

Disulfide Bonds – Formed when “two cysteine residues” from the amino acid chain of keratin in hair is on two molecules. Keeps keratin molecule connected and prevents them from slipping past each other.
